Fashion models are used mainly to promote products (primarily clothing and accessories). The first thing that comes to mind the tall, skinny, elegant women who are on the runways for top designers. HIgh fashion is typical for campaigns, collections and magazine editorials for high fashion designers. These models are usually females, late teen to adult, tall and no more than a size 6-8. |

Teen or junior market represent one of the largest portion of on camera and in print talent in the business. Teen modeling is an offshoot of the adult modeling industry that is aimed towards the junior market. Boys and girls with very attractive features can model for print, runway and promotional events. These models should be female or male, ages 12-23, attractive and have an outgoing personality. |

Child Models
Child models are used for a wide vacriety of commercial purposes, often because they evoke a sense of innocence or vulnerbility. Child models can appear in television advertisements, store advertisements, magazines, and newsletters. They also can appear in traditional fashion shows and pageants. For young children and babies, modeling agents want models who are on the ridiculously cute side. These models could be as young as a newborn up to age 12. |

Commercial Models
Millions of photos in magazines, newspapers, posters and billboards use models to entice potential customers. The important thing with commercial modeling is not looking like a supermodel, it's having the right image to sell the product. One of the greatest appeals of commercial modeling is that there isn't a height, age or weight restrictions. You may be offered opportunities to model shampoo, jewelry, vehicles and anything else that a client desires. Your responsibility is to sell the product with your physical expressions, looks and actions. Some clients may not use your entire body but different body parts such as a hand or leg in an ad. These models could be male or female. |

Sophisticated Models
Models over the age of 30 have become a viable part of the industry that demand to see their age groups represented in magazines, editorials and campaigns. Not all models are the impossibly thin, super young, chiseled individuals you see walking down the runway. The difference between these and other fashion models is the type of jobs they audition for. These models should be 30 years and older, very attractive, well toned and a great smile. |

Full Figure Models
Becoming a full-figured model is a bit tougher than breaking into traditional modeling. There are fewer jobs available, but just as many beautiful faces competing for the jobs. Many top agencies have added full figure boards as an advertising alternative for their clients. This results in a booming market that represents sizes more women relate to. These models should be female, sizes 10-20, have a well proportioned body, attractive face, nice skin and a great smile. |

Male models are utilized by clients to exhibit clothing or merchandise for the purposes of visual advertisement. Selected because of suitable physical characteristics and attractiveness, male models are held up as an example of the male aesthetic ideal. They are also marketed to women as figures of desire and romance. Usually with attractive faces and toned bodies, these men fit a certain set of criteria standard in the industry. These models appear in mainstream hip-hop oriented music videos, men's magazines, calendars, award shows and live performances. Vixen models can make as much as the top fashion models. Landing a part in a music video is seen as a way to gain notoriety for themselves as they pursue a career in entertainment business. These models should be comfortable with their bodies, perfectly toned, curvy and can dance. |
